Water-Based PU Technology
SuperTech FoodSafe is manufactured from a durable, high cut-resistant knitted liner. The palm is coated with blue water-based polyurethane (Water-Based PU).
This technology provides a thin and flexible coating offering:
excellent dexterity and tactile sensitivity,
secure grip for precise handling,
high flexibility,
comfort during prolonged use,
excellent fit to the hand.
The blue colour has been specifically selected for food-processing environments, where high visibility of personal protective equipment is particularly important.
CUT D – High Cut Protection
SuperTech FoodSafe achieves Cut Level D according to EN 388.
Full performance result:
EN 388: 4X44D
This makes the glove suitable for tasks involving sharp edges, tools and equipment where conventional food-handling gloves may not provide sufficient mechanical protection.
Extended Food Contact Testing
FoodSafe is not simply a blue protective glove intended for the food industry.
The model has undergone an extended laboratory testing programme designed to assess the safety of materials intended for food-contact applications.
✓ Overall Migration
Overall migration testing was performed to determine whether substances from the glove material could migrate into food above permitted levels.
Testing included different food simulants representing contact with various types of food, including:
3% acetic acid – representing contact with acidic foods,
10% ethanol – representing contact with aqueous foods and specified food categories,
isooctane – used in testing materials intended for contact with fatty-type food products.
The tested samples met the applicable test criteria.
✓ Heavy Metals
The glove was tested for the migration of a wide range of metals, including:
Al, Ba, Co, Cu, Fe, Ni, Zn, Sb, As, Cd, Cr, Pb and Hg, as well as other elements included within the scope of testing.
The purpose of this testing is to assess whether undesirable elements could migrate from the glove material into food.
✓ PAA – Primary Aromatic Amines
SuperTech FoodSafe was also tested for the migration of PAA – Primary Aromatic Amines.
These substances are subject to strict restrictions in materials intended to come into contact with food.
The result obtained for SuperTech FoodSafe was:
Total PAA < 0.01 mg/kg – PASS
This provides an additional level of verification for applications where food-contact safety is particularly important.
✓ DMF / DMFa
The gloves were also tested for residual dimethylformamide (DMFa), a substance relevant to products containing polyurethane.
Testing was performed according to EN 16778.
Average result:
DMFa: 11.8 mg/kg
